SUPERMARKET staff will be making sure they are doing something funny for money to raise cash for Comic Relief.
Sainsbury’s in King Street, Thorne, will be staging a fun-filled programme of fundraising events next Friday in aid of Red Nose Day - part of the Comic Relief charity.
On offer at the store will be a marshmallow eating contest, soaking the manager, guessing how many sweets are in the jar, what’s in the box and a Rocky Horror Picture Show inspired dance musical demonstration.
Official Red Nose Day merchandise is also for sale in the supermarket.
Staff at the store are hoping to raise a total of around £2,000 for the national appeal and are inviting shoppers to come along on the day to show their support.
Funds they make will go to Sainsbury’s overall target which aims to raise over £9 million from its stores.
Comic Relief is a registered charity which spends all of the money it raises in order to give to vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa in a bid to turn their lives around.
