STARRY-eyed schoolchildren were given the chance to learn more about the wonders of astronomy.

As Professor Brian Cox’s popular Stargazing Live programme returned to television screens, youngsters from Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College and neighbouring schools experienced the outside indoors as they got the chance to take a closer look into the night’s sky thanks to a mobile planetarium.

Scores of star-gazers were also treated to talks from top astronomers including Steve Ibbotson and a 3D presentation by Dennis Ashton.

Spokesman Alison Blaylock said: “The feedback received from the children and their parents was fantastic even without the night sky aspect.”
