coronation street stars swapped the cobbles of Weatherfield for the bright lights of Doncaster to attend a charity event.

Jack P Shepherd who plays on screen villain David Platt and soapstar siren Michelle Keegan who plays barmaid Tina McIntyre attended the event at Skellow Grange to help raise £2,000 for charity.

The money will be split between the Chatsfield cancer Suite at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and organiser Andy Booker’s childhood friend John Right, 47, who is currently battling cancer.

Mr Booker, who, has raised thousands for charity over the years with celebrity charity nights, usually involving boxing stars, said the event was a huge success.

“Everyone thought Jack was a lovely lad in contrast to his character and everyone thought Michelle was absolutely stunning. “It was a great night and we were really pleased with how much we raised.”

Mr Booker who has been friends with Mr Right since they were teenagers added: “We wanted to raise some money for John but also do this as a show of support that all his friends are fighting this battle with him.”

The next event Mr Booker has planned is an event at Skellow Grange in April where boxing legend Mike Tyson is scheduled to appear.
