Staff from St John’s Information Service are launching their Skin Cancer Campaign for summer.
During May, staff will be out and about spreading the word on how to prevent skin cancer, how to protect skin from the sun, risk factors, signs and symptoms of the cancer and the treatment available.
Awareness events include the Frenchgate Interchange from 9am to 1pm on May 10, the Vermuyden Centre, Thorne, 9am – 11 am on May 13.
Joanne O’Marr, who manages the service said: “Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK and the number of people diagnosed is increasing. If you are going out in the sun, please protect yourself.”
