SHERIDAN Smith is set for a star studded 2012 filming with Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith, Harry Potter’s Michael Gambon, Dustin Hoffman, Billy Connolly and Star Trek’s Simon Pegg.

The starlet is set to appear in Quartet - a comedy drama set in a retirement home for opera singers, directed by Oscar winner Hoffman and due for release in November, as well as A Fantastic Fear of Everything with Simon Pegg, which is currently being filmed.

Doncaster actress Sheridan has the critics firmly behind her too, after recently picking up an award for her role as a World War Two Polish airman’s wife in the West End drama Flare Path.

Sheridan, 30, who first tasted life on the stage at Doncaster Civic Theatre when she was a member of the Doncaster Thespians theatre group, picked up the Best Actress award for her performance in Flare Path during The Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, at the Prince of Wales Theatre, Coventry Street, London.

It is the latest honour for Sheridan, who went to school in Epworth, who has previously won awards voted for by the public for her role in the musical Legally Blonde.

Her delighted mum, Marilyn, said: “This one is from The Critics’ Circle, and to win that ahead of all the actresses and shows is quite something.

“I’m so proud of her again, as I always have been. She is a young girl who has been following her dreams for several years and I think this shows what a versatile actress she is. Last year she was winning for a musical, this year it is for a drama.”

Her mum is urging her fans to back her for another - The What’s On Stage Awards 2012 - in which she is nominated for the best supporting actress in a play gong.

The prize is decided by a public internet vote.
