Tickhill’s annual Scarecrow Festival takes place on Saturday, May 4, from 10am to 5pm.
The event, organised by the Tickhill Together group, is expected to attract hundreds of residents and visitors.
Programmes detailing the event and the location of 54 scarecrows are now available from the Card Gallery, Castlegate DIY and Deli 28 shops.
There will be entertainment throughout the day with stalls and activities and rides for children, and refreshments will be served at the Scout and Guide headquarters on St Mary’s Road, the Methodist Church and Parish Room, both on Northgate.
The scarecrow route starts at the green at Castle Close and winds it way around the town before finishing in Castlegate. The judging of the scarecrows will begin at 10am and the winners will be announced in the Market Place at 2pm.
A competition will give the chance to collect 13 letters from participating scarecrows on the way round the route then rearrange them to give the name of a well-known television character.
Completed entries should be handed in at Card Gallery by 5.30pm on the day. Prizes of £15, £10 and £5 are on offer.
Money raised will fund future Tickhill Together events.
