HEAVY snow is set to sweep into our region today as the area braces itself for a blast of winter.

There are already minor snow flurries but the heaviest falls are expected to begin this afternoon and motorists and communters are being warned to be prepared for potential disruption.

The Met Office has forecast a heavy band of snow moving eastwards across England and Wales throughout the day with temperatures not expected to climb above zero. The snow is forecast to last into the weekend and the region’s gritting teams are on standby to keep roads moving.
