Baking books are at the ready as Isle residents prepare to take part in the Macmillan’s World’s Biggest coffee morning.
The Epworth BIG Coffee Morning will be held at Epworth Imperial Hall, Chapel St, on Friday September 27 from 10am until 2pm.
Contributions to the raffle, tombola, and book, cake, plant and produce stalls will be gratefully received.
Volunteers are also welcome to take part in the event or hold their own coffee morning to raise vital funds for the cancer charity.
One of the organisers Carol Mellers said: “Money raised will help support services in our local area.
“The Scunthorpe and Goole Macmillan Cancer Support group has raised over £1million since it started. Not only does this help to fund Macmillan nurses, but also to provide grants for local patients in need of financial assistance with anything from which they will benefit.”
Scores of residents have already signed up to take part in the Macmillan event but there is still time to get invovled.
Macmillan’s fundraising manager Amy Hebdon said: “One of the great things about this event is that it’s such good fun, it gives people a great sense of achievement and is very flexible.
“Every pound raised will help us fund our vital services.”
