Isle residents will get the opportunity to put the area’s police and commissioner on the spot when he makes a visit to Epworth next month.

Matthew Grove, police and crime commissioner for Humberside, will be in and around Epworth all day on Thursday, September 19.

He is expected to start his day at the town’s police station at 8am before going on patrol with officers in the Axholme North and Axholme South wards.

The commissioner will also be speaking to business owners in Epworth High Street about crime levels after they were targeted in a series of burglaries earlier this year.

Mr Grove is also expected to speak with residents about plans for volunteer-led horseback patrols after the Humberside force’s mounted police division was axed in a cost cutting measure.

He said: “I am looking forward to visiting Epworth and the Isle of Axholme again. I will meet with officers and PCSOs and then go out on patrol with them for the day. I hope to visit communities and meet local representatives, businesses and residents to find out their views.”
