Many former Isle students and teachers will remember Marjorie Trimmington, one of the area’s best known educators.
The Epworth Bells told recently how the former school teacher celebrated her 100th birthday.
Miss Trimmington celebrated the milestone at her current home, Cumberworth Lodge in Haxey, and kindly shared with us a collection of pictures showing how her career developed over the years.
Born on March 6, 1914, in High Street, Epworth, she went on to teach at Owston Ferry before joining staff at Epworth’s County Primary School, known more commonly as The Board School.
She finished her career in the South Axholme school.
Miss Trimingham was a keen member of Epworth Civic Society and following her retirement from teaching in 1974 she enjoyed travelling the country with a friend.
Friend Tony Catherall said: “Marjorie has influenced so many people.
“She had pupils who are now in their 80s.
“I always look forward to visiting her and our interesting chat.”
She is pictured above second from the right in 1955, and right, at her retirement party.
