Hospital ready for major incident test

Staff at Scunthorpe General Hospital will be carrying out a live decontamination exercise on Sunday to test their response to a major incident.

The exercise will be based on a scenario that involves an incident causing the accidental release of a hazardous chemical. Extra staff have been drafted in so there will be no disruption to services. Graham Jaques, the hospital’s resilience manager, said it is vital staff “are prepared for incidents such as these.”
