A PENSIONER had to be cut out of a car after it was involved in a motorway collision with a heavy goods vehicle yesterday.
The crash happened when a green Peugeot 306 estate, driven by a 77-year-old man, collided with the rear offside tyres of the HGV as they travelled northbound on the M18, police said.
The Peugeot driver then reportedly lost control, hit the central reservation and rolled before stopping in the middle lane.
The Loughborough pensioner was cut out of the car by firefighters from Doncaster and Thorne stations.
A technical rescue unit crew was also called to Sunday’s incident.
He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
The driver of the green MAN Heavy Tractor Arctic, a 26-year-old man, was not hurt and stopped following the incident near junctions four and five.
