Coun Redfern was one of the first councillors on NLC when it was established in 1996, she said: “It has been a great honour and privilege to have led NLC supported by colleagues, members of staff and residents. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution and commitment to making North Lincolnshire a great place to live and work.

“When I think of all the achievements we have made as a council, there are some highlights that stand out in my mind.

“After years of campaigning, in 2012 we managed to halve the Humber Bridge tolls when the government agreed to write down £150m of the bridge debt. This saw the toll reduced to £1.50 a crossing, as it is still today.

“Another commitment we made to residents was to freeze general council tax, which we were able to do for five consecutive years. North Lincolnshire is a wonderful place for businesses to invest and for people to live, work and bring up their families. I am very proud of what has been accomplished and I am positive there are going to be many more highlights for North Lincolnshire in coming years.”

Coun Waltham, said: “There are some really exciting times ahead. I am fully committed to doing the best for residents and businesses, and ensuring the economy continues to grow. The Isle is a brilliant place and I intend to make sure that we continue to deliver for the area. My priorities include continued investment in education, funding for older people’s care and improvements to local roads and pavements locally. The new leisure centre in the north of the Isle will be constructed over the coming months and we intend to deliver on our promise to provide funding to improve facilities at Epworth Swimming Pool. 2017 is set to be a good year and I intend to continue to deliver on our promises to the Isle communities.”
