Police are urging motorists to be vigilant after a spate of spare wheel thefts.

Thieves broke into three vehicles in one night between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday.

The first car was a Mercedes Sprinter in Thorntondale Road in Scawsby, the next was a Volkswagen in Westminister Way, Intake, and the third vehicle targeted was a Volkswagen Caddy van in Hesley Road, Rossington.

Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: β€œI would urge motorists who are offered unusually cheap wheels for these tyres of vehicles to contact police.

β€œIt is possible it may be stolen goods.”

Call police on 101 with information.
