Shipping forecast conditions might have been described as poor, but torrential rain didn’t stop scores of model boat enthusiasts descending on Doncaster for the Northern Boat Show.

The annual two day event, organised by the Conisbrough and Denaby Modelling Association, drew in hobbyists from across the country.

The event, which continues tomorrow at Doncaster College for the Deaf on Leger Way, included hundreds of finely detailed models of ships and yachts of all shapes and sizes as well as stalls aimed at modelling enthusiasts.

And visitors could see some of the craft in action at a specially constructed outdoor pool.

There will be a raffle prize for holders of a Sunday ticket of a model kit drawn at 3pm on the day.

The show is open on Sunday from 10am-4pm. Admission is £4 for adults, family ticket 2 adults and 2 children £9, children under 16 £2 (must be accompanied by an adult). Free parking is available and there is a restaurant on site for refreshments.
