Teddy bears and cuddly toys wanted for Sheffield fundraiser

Cuddly mascots for a football team and national charity are calling on Sheffield residents to help out with a charity event.

Sheffield Wednesday FC mascot Ozzie and Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) mascot Ellie are on the lookout for donations of unwanted teddies and cuddly toys, either new or preloved, for their ‘Teddy and Toy Parachute Jump’ at Owls in the Park which takes place on Sunday July 17. The toys will be used for a tombola held in Hillsborough Park.

Sue Coggin, fundraising manager at SRSB said: “We all gather a number of cuddly toys over the years and we asking if anyone has any they don’t  use anymore however much loved they are please donate them to SRSB.

“They will go to a new home be loved and looked after and help raise funds for blind and partially sighted children in Sheffield.”

Your donations can be dropped of at a special teddy/toy collection point at Yellow Box Storage on Penistone Road in Sheffield between 9-6pm or at SRSB’s centre at 5 Mappin Street between 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Sue added: “We would like to thank Yellow Box Storage who has offered to home the toys until their adventure on July 17.”
