A Doncaster cancer charity is offering a new yoga class to improve people’s wellbeing.

Aurora Wellbeing Centres, is offering gentle yoga classes for men and women, including cancer survivors.

Research shows that Yoga can help reduce fatigue stimulate muscles, improve both flexibility and strength, clear toxins, boost the immune system and calm the nervous system.
Many people who find going to the gym too tiring say that yoga provides an ideal, balanced form of whole-body movement that energises and relaxes.

Classes will be modified to each person’s needs and energy levels.

A spokesman for Aurora said: “A new US study shows that yoga can benefit breast cancer survivors by reducing fatigue and inflammation.
“The breathing techniques and postures help to strengthen the body and deal with the uncomfortable side-effects of treatment, both during and after treatment.
“For men affected by cancer of the prostate, some yoga postures can help to tone the deep pelvic muscles thereby promoting circulation as well as stimulating the liver meridian which is one of the key factors in prostate health.

“Come along and try this weekly yoga for wellbeing class and feel the benefits.”

The class will offer a variety of simple yoga postures, deep breathing techniques and relaxation which are great for the whole being - body, mind and spirit.

The Aurora Centre, based in Doncaster Royal infirmary, offers complementary professional beauty therapy treatments including advice on skin care, hair loss and ‘well-being’ sessions for cancer patients in Doncaster.
