A Doncaster hospital unit is to be renamed this week to mark its transformation into a specialist falls service.

Currently known as the day hospital at Tickhill Road Hospital, part of Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, the unit will be unveiled as ‘Evergreen’ on Thursday.

The unit houses the specialist falls service which is made up of NHS staff including older people’s consultants, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Its aim is to help older people to reduce the risk and fear of falls, and to increase their confidence and independence throughout their daily lives.

People who use the service and those who refer patients to the service are being invited along to the renaming event, between 1pm and 4pm at Tickhill Road Hospital, where there will be a range of information about the Specialist Falls Service and Parkinson’s Disease and exercise taster sessions.

Anyone wanting to attend is asked to book a place, as light refreshments will be provided. contact Sue Thrush by ringing 01302 796456 or by emailing Sue.thrush@rdash.nhs.uk
