Doncaster’s Lakeside is preparing for the arrival of hundreds of competitors ahead of this weekend’s European Jet Ski Championship finals.

The event, which takes place from the 22-24 August, will see over 100 participants from across Europe, as well as a team from the United Arab Emirates, heading to the water to compete for the title.

Jet Ski competitions are fast-paced, exciting and visually stunning – Lakeside will come alive with movement of hundreds of state-of-the-art machines as the riders try to slalom and speed their way to victory.

The event is completely free to attend, and will be a chance to see a truly global event come to Doncaster. This is the third year that the Jet Ski Championships have been held at Lakeside, with the event growing in size year on year.

Cabinet member for Tourism, Councillor Bob Johnson, said: “It is a real privilege for Doncaster to host an event of this magnitude, and the fact that the Jet Ski Championships are so exciting and fun to watch will add even more excitement.

It is great that the facilities we have in Doncaster have been recognised by the British Jet Sport Racing Association (JSRA), and that they specifically wanted to stage the European finals here. I’m sure this decision will be rewarded with a fantastic, enjoyable event.”
