Hatfield - April 16

SEVERAL members of the public attended the council meeting to express their concern at the proposed Doncaster Energy from Waste project on Hatfield Power Park which will take household waste from Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.

The plant will start building this year, subject to planning permission and be completed in 2011.

It is expected the link road may take four years to complete and it is estimated this will mean two years of HGVs passing through Hatfield, Dunscroft and Dunsville using M18 junctions 4 and 5.

If the road is not constructed prior to the start of the project, HGVs heading towards the site will pass residential areas and schools.

The Council has agreed to call a public meeting at a date to be arranged.

Hatfield Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, April 27 at the Council Offices in Cuckoo Lane, starting at 7pm.

If any electors living in the Hatfield, Hatfield Woodhouse, Lindholme, Dunscroft and Dunsville areas have any items that they would wish to be included on the agenda, please inform the Town Clerk by phoning 01302
