“It is believed that smoke grenades were set off. The street was cleared shortly afterwards. No one injured and no arrests were made.”

The disturbance is the latest incident to occur on Silver Street after England played in the European football tournament.

One person was arrested on suspicion of assault and another for theft last Monday night, June 20, when revellers were then celebrating England safely making it through to the last 16 this year’s Euros game.

Officers had also previously attended the town centre street on Thursday June 16, following England’s match with Wales, to deal with the crowds.

On that night. one flare landed under a child’s pram and a fan climbed on top of a stationary bus, but no arrests were made.

England lost 2:1 to Iceland in Monday’s match.
