Seven families are celebrating after receiving the keys to their newly built council homes.

The houses in Cantley are part of the first phase of a £10m build programme commissioned by Doncaster Council.

Over the next few years the programme will provide more than 100 new one, two, and three bedroom homes in areas across the borough, including Woodlands, Askern and Carcroft.

Among the first tenants to move into homes on the Broom Hill Drive development in Cantley were Hannah Newcombe, Liam Wright and their daughter.

Hannah said: “The house is gorgeous. I was over the moon when I found out we had successfully got one of these new houses. It’s more affordable for our family and there’s plenty of space for our little girl.”

All of the new properties will be managed and maintained by St Leger Homes of Doncaster and advertised through the Doncaster Homechoice website www.doncasterhomechoice.co.uk

Deputy Mayor, Glyn Jones, said: “This is excellent news for Doncaster families looking for an affordable home. These new council homes will help to address the demand for housing within Doncaster”

Susan Jordan, Chief Executive of St. Leger Homes of Doncaster, said: “St. Leger Homes are pleased to be working with Doncaster Council to offer these much needed and sought after family homes at Broom Hill Drive in Cantley.”
