Police in Doncaster are urging the public to be on high alert and record details of their valuables, especially pedal cycles, after an increase in the number of bikes stolen.
They say the majority of valuables are being stolen from sheds and garages and are recovering a large amount of bikes, but are struggling to locate the owners, due to not having enough details on the system to identify them.
Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: “The main issue we have is people not being able to provide us with enough detail regarding their bike.
“It would help if the public know the make, model and frame number of their bike and if they can take a picture of the bike, so we can use this information to trace the owner. The public can also register their bikes and other valuables on www.immobilise.com website.”
