Isle firefighters swapped their hoses and helmets for buckets and sponges for a fundraising car wash.

Residents were invited to drive up to Epworth and Crowle fire stations on Saturday to get their cars cleaned for a small donation.

The money raised was still being counted this week but it is expected to have raised a few hundred pounds.

All proceeds made will go to The Fireighters Charity, which offers support to serving and retired firefighters who may have been injured in the line of duty.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “The car wash is a great way for the community to meet local firefighters while raising money.”
