Work has now started on an £88,000 project to project to upgrade the changing rooms at Wheatley Hills RUFC’s ground.

The changing rooms will be extended and brought up to RFU standard. The existing communal shower will be replaced with new separate showers in the changing rooms, making it more practical for mixed groups.

Work is expected to be completed on the ground, based on Brunel Road, by mid-July 2014.

Club Secretary Dave Wylie says, “These improvements will make the building more attractive, comfortable and accessible and we are delighted that work is underway.”

The work has been funded by The RFU and The Veolia Environmental Trust who have awarded a grant of £15,000 through the Landfill Communities Fund.

The Executive Director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, Paul Taylor, says, “We support community and environmental projects throughout the UK and it is always great to hear when one is starting. This scheme will create a facility that will benefit the club, visiting players and the wider community, and I look forward to seeing the completed results.”
