A tireless charity fundraiser who has collected a whopping £40,000 for good causes has been rewarded for her generosity.

Lisa Denton was presented with a top honour at an awards ceremony for her dedication to Diabetes UK.

Lisa, warehouse team manager at supermarket giant Tesco’s Doncaster distribution centre, was presented with the Individual Fundraiser of the Year gong at the glitzy bash in London’s Grosvenor Square.

She was rewarded for organising fundraising events and raising awareness of diabetes to support the charity, Tesco’s national charity partner.

She said: “I am incredibly proud that my efforts have been recognised with the Individual Fundraiser of the Year Award. I’d like to thank everyone at the distribution centre and the local community for their support.”

TV presenter Dominic Littlewood hosted the awards ceremony. David Wood, UK marketing director at Tesco, and Dominic presented Lisa with the glass trophy and flowers in front of a 250-strong audience.

She has raised £39,500 for Diabetes UK with a variety of fundraisers including a What’s in the Envelope game, tombolas and raffles throughout the year.

She transformed the distribution centre into a winter wonderland where locals could enjoy Christmas stalls, visit Father Christmas and take part in a raffle and funfair.

The event raised £8,000 in one day.

And when the centre celebrated its 25th birthday in April, Lisa put on an event at the Keepmoat Stadium to mark the occasion and raise even more money.

Host Dominic, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10, said: “I was proud to host the awards. The evening was a celebration of the fantastic efforts Tesco colleagues have made to support Diabetes UK. Not only have they raised an incredible £11 million, they’ve also helped to raise awareness of a condition that is very personal to me.”
