YOUNG yobs have shoved an 11-year-old with severe epilepsy to the ground to steal his brand new bike.

Heartbroken Nathan Dowling, had only been given the £500 GT Avalanche as a birthday present on April 10, after his mum Dawn and dad Simon had saved up for weeks to be able to buy him the bike.

His cousin Sam Caygill, also 11, was thrown off his BMX by the two teenagers, who pedalled off with his bike which was a Christmas present.

Mrs Dowling, 32, of Balcarres Road, Rossington, said: “Nathan was having up to 50 fits a day before Christmas, so couldn’t have a bike then.

“Because he also has arthritis we wanted to get him a really good bike while he was still fit enough to ride it.

“Whoever did this is just evil.”

Nathan, has to take drugs to stop his seizures.

The Pheasant Bank Academy pupils were on the bridleway between Rossington and Bessacarr when the older boys robbed them and left an older bike they had at the scene.

Mrs Dowling, a night care manager at Tickhill Road Hospital said days before Monday evening’s theft the family had marked Nathan’s bike with Smartwater - a liquid where each batch has a unique code allowing police to be able to identify stolen property.

Pawnbrokers have been made aware of the missing bikes.

Nathan’s family have helped raise hundreds of pounds for epilepsy charities.

Call police on 101, quoting incident number 878 of May 14.

Meanwhile a 17-year-old needed three stitches after he was hit over the head with a metal bar and had his BMX robbed at Sprotbrough Skate Park in Anchorage Lane on May 5.

The robbers were aged 18 to 20 and around six foot tall.
