Woman’s jaw broken after Wombwell man ‘lashed out’
A WOMBWELL man broke a woman’s jaw when he punched her in the face in a drunken rage, a court heard.
Daniel Noble, aged 22, lashed out at Kirsty Davison because he thought she was a bad influence on his daughter. His assault was so violent that it knocked her to the ground unconscious.
Sheffield Crown Court heard how Kirsty was staying with Noble’s ex-partner, Kimberly Barradell, at the time of the incident. Noble had become angry as he believed Kirsty had a drug problem.
Jailing Noble for 15 months, Judge Simon Lawler QC told him: “You are a big man and it must have been a heavy blow to cause such an injury.
“I accept you are remorseful about this, but the court cannot overlook violence of this sort.”
Iain Hillis, prosecuting, said the incident happened on August 25 last year when Noble handed over his young daughter to her mum Kimberly, who was at a party at the time.
Mr Hillis said Noble was persuaded to stay at the party and downed a bottle of cider while he was there.
“After several hours however, he began to be abusive. He accused Miss Davison of taking drugs and was not be to dissuaded from that view.
“As a result of that disturbance everyone was asked to leave the party.”
Mr Hillis said Kirsty and Kimberly left the party, and Noble followed them to Kirsty’s home, continuing to be abusive.
He said he became irritated as Kirsty ignored him and punched her as she walked into the house.
“She was punched in the face rendering her unconscious, fracturing her left cheek.
“The defendant was arrested having left the scene.”
In interview Noble said he was ‘very concerned’ that Kirsty was involved in drugs.
Chris Aspinall, defending, said Noble had a ‘rather frosty break-up’ with his partner.
“He very much regrets what happened. It’s simply frustration,” Mr Aspinall said.
“There will be no further difficulties between him and Miss Barradell in relation to their daughter.”
Noble, of Station Road, Wombwell, Barnsley, had 16 previous convictions, including other offences of violence against women, the court heard.
