POLICE are trying to identify the owner of an an expensive looking piece of jewellery which was found in the street.

A good samaritan discovered the ring on East Field Road, Epworth, on Friday afternoon and handed it in to the town police station.

Officers are now asking for anyone who has lost such an item to come forward if they believe they are the owner.

Residents are asked to provide documentation as proof it belongs to them.

Jenny Mardew, of Epworth Police Station, said: “It looks like a lady’s ring and may have slipped off when she was removing her glove.”

The station is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm. You can also ring the non-emergency number 101 and ask to be put through.
