Teenager hurt in Rawmarsh collision

Police Accident

Police Accident

Police are appealing for help from the public, following a Rawmarsh incident that left a deaf girl shocked and injured.

The 17-year old girl was injured during a collision with a van at Albert Road, Rawmarsh, at about 7.31am on Tuesday, November 27.

She was walking with a male friend of the same age, along Netherfield Lane towards the junction with Albert Road. They stopped at a dropped kerb waiting to cross the road.

At this point, a white transit-style van allegedly knocked the girl to the ground. She was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital with injuries to her left ankle and shoulder, and received treatment before being allowed home. She was left badly shaken by the incident.

The driver of the van did not stop, but turned left from Netherfield Lane on to Albert Road, towards Hollybush Street, Parkgate.

Police have been unable to trace the driver or van and are turning to the public for help.

It’s believed that other vehicles were about in the residential area at the time, and that one had to brake hard to avoid a collision with the same van. The route is also used as a short-cut between Rawmarsh and Parkgate.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 106 of 27 November, 2012, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555111.
