South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.

A Doncaster sports store was forced to close early yesterday after a small fire.

Fire crews were called to the Sports Direct branch at the Wheatley Centre at 1pm when a light fitting on the first floor started to give off smoke.

They used dry powder extinguishers to put it out and senior oficers advised the store manager to close the premises for safety reasons so customers were asked to leave.

There was no serious damage to the premises.
