SLIDESHOW: Party time at St Pius
A WATH celebration saw students and senior citizens from across the Dearne enjoying festive fun together.
Almost 100 elderly guests were welcomed to Saint Pius X Catholic High School for a party that is a time-honoured tradition at the school.
The traditional Christmas party has been running for over 30 years and is a highlight of the school year.
Pupils served up a Christmas tea to their appreciative guests, then put on some entertainment that included parent John Martin performing magic, singing and Irish dancing, with carol singing for everyone as a finale.
Each year, students collect money to pay for the party as part of their charity fundraising. Guests also receive a small gift before returning home.
Head of history Caroline Brown who organises the event along with retired teacher Tony Dodsworth said: “It’s amazing to hold the party every year and see some of the same faces returning each time. Everyone enjoys it and students, parents and staff all give generously to a big raffle we do too.”
