A RAPIST who attacked his partner up to 60 times during their three-year relationship has been jailed for 11 years.

The 25-year-old is also banned from any contact with the two children they had together after a judge at Doncaster Crown Court imposed a restraining order.

He admitted six specimen charges of rape and one of assaulting her.

Sentencing, Mr Recorder David Hatton QC told the man - who cannot be identified to protect the victim’s right to anonymity - he had “used and abused” his partner for his own self-gratification and to dominate her will and liberty.

Mr Hatton said: “You did so without thought for her suffering, both physical and emotional. You frequently used violence in committing these offences over and above what was necessary in gaining your gratification by placing a pillow over her head, during which she is likely to have thought you were going to kill her.”

An earlier hearing was told how the abuse began in the summer of 2010 on the day England were knocked out of the World Cup, when his partner was pregnant with their first child.

The secret abuse was uncovered when the couple had a row and the defendant admitted to his step-father what he had been doing. The step-father then took the man to the police station.

Once there, he confessed to raping his partner between 50 and 60 times, whenever she said “no” to sex, and admitted there was “something wrong” with him.

Richard Haigh, mitigating, said his client was “utterly ashamed and entirely remorseful”.
