doncaster Rovers are hoping to kick start the careers of unemployed people in the borough with their new training course.

Doncaster Rovers Community Sports and Education Foundation are tackling unemployment with a new training course available for 19 to 24 year olds to help them back to work.

The 13 week course based at the Keepmoat Stadium, entitled DRFC Level 2 Training Academy, starts in March and is being run in partnership with the Job Centre and Kingfisher Primary School.

The unique package of qualifications has been put together to give learners aged 19 to 24 the chance to develop their employment opportunities within the education and sports profession.

Jenna Scully, Education Manger at Rovers Education Foundation said: “We are very excited about the prospects of offering one of our learners a full-time position within our partner school. A lot of our students seek employment working in schools after completing our courses as they realise they are good at working with children.

“We are very fortunate that Kingfisher Primary School is willing to give someone such a good opportunity and help us support the Doncaster community in offering local people employment opportunities.”

Students will have the chance to develop their coaching skills and knowledge through a curriculum built up of vocational qualifications at level 1 and level 2.

Those that achieve a level 2 in Functional Skills and Numeracy will have the opportunity to volunteer and train for a position as a Teaching Assistant with Kingfisher Primary School, one of Rovers partner schools, and additionally have the chance to interview for a full-time Teaching Assistant position at the school.

As part of learning with Doncaster Rovers, students receive travel costs, free kit, and tickets to selected Rovers games. If you are interested in applying for the course and are aged between 19 and 24, contact 01302 765890 or visit www.drfc-community.co.uk.
