POLICE are revisiting the scene near where Casey Lyanne Kearney was stabbed as detectives piece together what happened in the lead up to her murder.

Following last night’s vigil for the 13-year-old from Rossington, officers will be at Elmfield Park today and over the weekend asking for information.

Casey was stabbed near the park in Bennetthorpe on Tuesday lunchtime. The McAuley School pupil died around eight hours later in Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Det Supt Terry Mann, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “We’ve been encouraged by the public’s response, but we are still appealing for more witnesses to come forward.”

Elmfield Park was re-opened to the public last night. Before the vigil Casey’s family were allowed time to themselves at the scene of where she was found fatally injured.

The scene is now awash with floral tributes to Casey.

Anyone with information should call the police incident room on 01709 443510 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Hannah Bonser, 26, of Cusworth House, St James’ Street, Balby Bridge, has been remanded in custody accused of murder and two counts of possessing a blade.
