POLICE have issued a photo of a man they want to quiz about an assault in Bawtry.

Officers are appealing to the public for help in identifying the man following the incident on December 16.

At about 1.05am, a 20-year-old man was in Bawtry with two friends on a night out.

The group walked over to the petrol station on the corner of Scot Lane and High Street and started talking to another group of people on the forecourt.

Without any provocation, an unknown man is then believed to have pushed the 20-year-old in the chest causing him to stumble backwards.

He then retaliated and also pushed the man in the chest. The man then allegedly punched the 20-year-old in the face which resulted in him falling to the ground unconscious.

The 20-year-old man sustained a broken nose and fractured eye socket, which required extensive surgery and a bone graft, and he is still suffering with eye and vision problems.

The man suspected of the alleged assault is believed to be in his early to mid 20s and approximately 6ft 8ins tall. He is of an average build and has long light brown hair almost to the shoulder, that was flicked back.
