HUMBERSIDE Police has released Christmas drink drive figures for North Lincolnshire, which show a reduction in the number of positive breath tests.
Chief inspector for roads policing, Roger Mitchell, said there had been a reduction in the number of people who provided a positive breath tests, a total of 4.4 per cent of those who were breathalysed compared to a figure of five per cent for the 2011 campaign.
He added: “This is a pleasing reduction and officers will continue to work to reduce this figure year after year.
“I would like to remind people that getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, when under the influence of drink and drugs is against the law. Officers from across the force work throughout the year to ensure that roads across our region are a safe place to be and that those people who are intent on putting their lives, and that of others, at risk will be caught and prosecuted.”
In North Lincolnshire a total of 785 breath tests were administered and 32 were positive. In all, 194 people provided a breath test as a result of a road collision and ten provided a positive breath test
Of 225 tests administered to under 25s, 11 people were over the limit. For 754 breath tests administered to 25 years and over, 31 were positive.
