NOMINATIONS are now being accepted for the Child of the Year Award - open to youngsters across the region.

A child can be nominated by a carer, teacher, relative or just those who think a child has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

This could be a youngster who is ill and has managed to continue with daily life, one who is a carer for a parent or sibling or perhaps they have placed themselves at risk by saving another person or even a pet.

The closing date for nominations has been moved back to Sunday November 18.

Entertainer Reece Lightning will be presenting the awards with special celebrity guests joining in.

All nominated children will receive a certificate and medal and a special panel of judges will decide on the winner plus two runners up who will receive a cash reward and trophy.

Following the awards the children may then enjoy some food and entertainment.

For more details, or to make a nomination contact organiser Sue Maclean via 174 Ashby High Street, Scunthorpe, DN16 2JR.

Please give full name and age of child together with your contact address and telephone number so invitations can be sent out.
