Name change at Station Rd School

ANOTHER Conisbrough school is to become an academy.

Station Road Primary School will become Castle Academy, Conisbrough from September 1 this year.

But the father of a pupil said he did not understand the need for change, while others felt the history of the school was associated positively with its name.

Head Simon Martin said: “After lengthy discussion, the Governing Body has voted to become a converter academy with effect from September 1 2012. Governors reflected on the outcome of the consultation process regarding the name of the academy and decided that it should be Castle Academy, Conisbrough. The intention is to not only maintain but improve the provision of education for all pupils.”
