‘Most wanted’ list issued by police hunting Doncaster railway thieves

railway police are today asking the Doncaster public to help them identify people who are suspected of stealing luggage from train passengers.

The ‘most wanted’ gallery has been issued as part of British Transport Police’s Operation Impact to crack down on the theft of suitcases, bags, mobile phones and laptops.

Teams of officers will also be travelling on key routes throughout the area, undertaking increased patrols to target hotspot locations.

Anyone who recognises anyone pictured in the CCTV images should text 61016 or contact the transport police on freefone 0800 40 50 40 quoting log B2/NEA of 08/03/2013 and the reference number on the image.

The following, with reference numbers, were pictured at Doncaster:

n SS04 22/6/12: A man boarded a train and stole a passenger’s suitcase. He dropped the suitcase when challenged and ran off.

n SS05 27/7/12: A man boarded a train at the same time as their victim and stole a suitcase from a rack. He got off just before the train departed.

n SS06A 4/8/12: £50 was stolen from a bag in the station. Police believe the two females pictured may be able to help with their inquiries.

n SS09 9/9/12: A man removed a suitcase from the luggage rack in the vestibule area on a train travelling between Doncaster and Hull. It was later discovered in the toilets of the train. It had been opened and rifled through.

n SS10 20/9/12: A woman walked on to a train at Doncaster station, stole an item of luggage, then walked off.

n SS14 13/1/13: A man boarded a train at Doncaster, stole a suitcase from a rack and jumped off the train.
