Mental health hospital patient absconds - public warned not to approach him

POLICE have launched a manhunt to trace a mental health hospital patient who absconded during a shopping trip to Doncaster’s Frenchgate Centre.

Members of the public are being warned not to approach Gregory Mellows, but call police instead.

The 45-year-old, a patient at Cheswold Hospital near Marshgate, was on a supervised trip on Wednesday. He was last seen at around 11am in the Sports Direct sports shop near to Boots.

He is described as mixed race, of medium build and around 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing black trousers, black jacket and a black bandana.

Cheswold Park Hospital is a 96-bed privately run unit catering for low to medium risk patients with a range of mental health problems. Run by Riverside Healthcare Ltd it has between 300 and 350 staff and is for men only.

Call police on 101 quoting reference number AX/2852/12 or incident number 359 of June, 13, 2012.
