Markets plan finally given approval

A PLAN to pump more than £1.3 million into Doncaster’s markets has been approved at the third time of asking.

The scheme was voted down at two earlier council meetings by Labour councillors after they claimed it lacked detail as to where the money would be spent.

But the proposal was passed at a full council meeting in Doncaster earlier today, Thursday.

The proposal includes approx spending of £900, 000 on Doncaster market, £350, 000 at Mexborough and £70, 000 at Rossington.

The scheme initially included a plan to spend around £150, 000 at Thorne town centre aswell.

But Labour councillors proposed an amendment to remove this, which was agreed by the council.
