A DONCASTER businessman is believed to have been threatened at knifepoint by masked robbers in front of his wife and three children.

The Free Press understands the man who was targeted in his Sprotbrough home confronted the masked robbers who then demanded money.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said it is thought that three men driving a black Audi A5 pulled into a field behind a property in Sprotbrough before two male occupants of the car wearing balaclavas entered the garden of the house.

The homeowner, a 44-year-old man, confronted the two men who then threatened him with a knife before leading him back into the house and demanding money, all in front of the man’s wife and three children.

The men are believed to have left the house with a quantity of cash before making off.

A short time later, the two suspects were picked up by a white Ford Transit van before being dropped outside the Sun Inn on Barnsley Road, Doncaster.

The driver of the van, a 22-year-old man from Woodlands, has been arrested and is helping officers with the investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.

Police are appealing for information on the incident that happened at approximately 5.45pm on Friday, contact 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
