Man hurt in collision at Wombwell

A MAN was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after he was struck by a car at Wombwell.

The 37-year-old pedestrian, from Wombwell, was hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra in Station Road on Sunday, at 11.15pm.

Police said the injured man also broke a leg and suffered internal injuries.

He was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital, where he was detained for treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and may be able to help with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1,189 of February 24.
