A MEXBOROUGH man was among 12 people fined for littering in Doncaster.

Matvejs Antonovics, 22, of Windhill Crescent, was charged with littering at Waterdale on February 10.

He pleaded guilty and was fined £36 and ordered to pay £100 costs by Doncaster Magistrates.

Antonovics was one of a dozen people caught with fines and costs totalling almost £2000.

Doncaster’s Deputy Mayor Cynthia Ransome has now issued a warning about the consequences of littering.

She said: “Each of these people could have avoided having to pay a fine by simply putting their rubbish in a bin.

“They could also have reduced the amount they have to pay by settling their fine at the first opportunity rather than waiting until the matter got to court.”
