Lavish lifestyle of fake goods crooks is exposed
Philip Cummings and below Sarah Hutchinson
A COUPLE sold fake goods netting thousands of pounds which enabled to them to fund a lavish lifestyle.
Philip Cummings has been jailed, while Sarah Hutchinson received a suspended sentence for their scam which helped pay for their family mortgage and a high-value Range Rover.
The duo, of Alderson Drive, Town Moor, copied CDs and DVDs, fake handbags, fake GHD hair products and other trademarked goods.
However, they were rumbled when police, Customs and Excise, the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), the British Recorded Music Industry and GHD launched a probe into their ill-gotten gains.
Cummings, 46, was jailed for 15 months and Hutchinson, 34, received nine months in prison, suspended for two years at Doncaster Crown Court for money laundering and counterfeit goods offences.

Speaking after the case Det Con Tony Allen, who led the investigation, said officers would look to recover money the couple made through the Proceeds of Crime Act.
He said: “Individuals involved in counterfeiting should know they face prison if found committing such offences.
“These crimes are not victimless. In the worst scenarios fake electrical items, often shipped in from the Far East, could be unsafe.” “The public should be wary of any ‘discounted designer goods’ offered.”
Kieron Sharp, director general of FACT added: “This was a criminal enterprise dealing in counterfeit goods and funding a criminal lifestyle for those running it.
“Criminal activity such as this threatens the livelihoods of the hundreds of thousands of people working in the UK’s film and television industries and actually deprives the legitimate UK economy of vital revenues.”
Call police on 101 to report counterfeit goods.
