Hunt for driver in serious A60 crash

A DRIVER who failed to stop after a serious car crash near Tickhill, Doncaster, is still being hunted by police.

They are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the A60 which left a man with life threatening injuries and injured three other people.

It happened about 4.38pm on Friday, January 25, as a blue Peugeot 206 driven by a 37-year-old man from Carlton-in-Lindrick was travelling from Tickhill towards Oldcotes, on Worksop Road, near the junction of Stoney Brigg Farm access road.

A grey Citroen Picasso driven by a 75-year-old man from Conisbrough, Doncaster was travelling in the opposite direction was overtaken by a black hatchback, which then pulled back onto the correct side of the road.

A polive spokesman said: “It is believed the actions of the hatchback has caused a reaction from the Peugeot, which has reportedly lost control and gone sideways across the road and into the path of the Picasso.”

The Peugeot driver sustained a broken leg and is currently being treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, but his passenger, a 35-year-old man from Carlton-in-Lindrick, sustained life threatening injuries, including a fractured spine and a bleed on the brain and he is currently being treated at the Northern General Hospital.

The Picasso driver suffered slight injuries, broken ribs and a passenger a 78-year-old woman from Conisbrough, also suffered slight injuries, a fractured sternum.

Police urgently want to trace the driver of the unknown small black hatchback which they believe was travelling from the direction of Oldcotes to Tickhill at the time. Anyone with information about this vehicle or witnesses to the collision is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 690 of January 25.
