ISLE residents wanted to get in touch with police are being reminded that the number for non-emergencies has changed.
From today Humberside Police has switched off its 0845 6060 222 number. People wanting to call officers in non-emergency situations should call 101. The number has been in operations since November 2011.
The 101 number, which is used nationally, was selected and designed to provide a memorable number to assist the public in contacting their police force to report crimes and concerns that do not require an emergency response.
Andy Globe, of Humberside Police said: “The use of the new 101 for contacting the police in Humberside has been a huge success and currently around three quarters of all non-emergency callers use the 101 system.
“This should make it easier for people to contact the police as you will only need to remember two short numbers - 999 for emergencies and 101 for non emergencies.
“Calls made to the 101 system from both landlines and mobile telephones cost 15 pence per call.”
