A DONCASTER MP who has been described as making life “hell” for the Government is in line for a top award.

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint has been shortlisted by parliamentary magazine The House in its annual honours ceremony to find the country’s top politicians.

Ms Flint, who has been an MP for 15 years, will fight it out with two others in the Opposition Frontbencher of the Year category, which will be decided by a public vote as well as the votes of people working in and around Westminster.

Her nomination described her as “tenacious and tireless” and added that she “has made life hell for the Government as it struggles to work out its own energy policy.”
She will go up against fellow Labour MPs Maria Eagle and Kevan Jones for the award which will be announced on November 28 in a ceremony in the Members Dining Room in the House of Commons.

She said: “It is lovely to be nominated for Opposition Frontbencher of the Year. Big thanks to my hardworking team.”

Since her election, she has held a number of key posts and is currently Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

Members of the public can vote for her at http://thehouseawards.com
