THousands of ladies dressed to impress for one of the highlights of the St Leger Festival.

Ladies Day saw women from all over the country descend on Town Moor in their finest attire.

The champagne and Pimms were flowing as the second day of racing got under way ahead of Saturday’s hotly-anticipated St Leger Day Race.

Winner of the prestigious best-dressed lady title was mum-of-three Donna Woodhead, from Bessacarr, who won a bumper haul of prizes including a Fiat 500 for a year, and a package of Visit Bawtry vouchers worth £1,200.

The 35-year-old said: “I was so surprised. I’ve never won anything like this before. It was really exciting.”
